Six Canadian Citizens Attacked and Abducted by Israeli Military in International Waters (2025)

“The ‘Conscience’ volunteers have been attacked and likely abducted by Israeli forces while in international waters on their way to open a sea corridor to Gaza.”

Updates

“Ellis, Mees and Stapleton have safely arrived in Jordan, according to a Facebook post from local activist group Palestine Action YYT.”

Newfoundlanders detained by Israel have been freed, family member says (Oct.12, 2025)

“Mskwaasin Agnew has been released along with fellow Canadians Khurram Musti Khan & Nima Machouf. Three Canadians Nikita Stapleton, Sadie Mees and Devoney Ellis are still being held illegally by Israel. Please keep advocating for their release and the release of all Palestinians held hostage and imprisoned in Israel who face horrific torture and human rights abuses daily.”

– Toronto Indigenous Harm Reduction (Oct.10, 2025)

“…Devoney Ellis, Sadie Mees, and Nikita Stapleton—all from St. John’s, NL—are among the dozens of international volunteers still illegally detained in Israeli prison, possibly because they refuse, on principle, to sign an acknowledgment that they ‘illegally entered’ the state that abducted them in international waters.”

3 Canadians freed, 3 still in Israeli prison, by Canadian Boat to Gaza (Oct.10, 2025)

According to Nima Machouf, the three young Newfoundlanders are still held captive because they refused to sign an Israeli form.

Statement by way of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition (Oct.8, 2025)

“The ‘Conscience’ volunteers have been attacked and likely abducted by Israeli forces while in international waters on their way to open a sea corridor to Gaza. These are the six volunteers from so-called Canada.

The flotilla was sailing in accordance with international law, outside Israeli jurisdiction. We call on the Canadian government and people to condemn this crime and to demand the immediate release of all abducted volunteers, as well as an end to Israel’s illegal blockade and ongoing genocide in Gaza.
